CBI still probing into SDO Dr Kishan's murder, Hopeson in jail: Gaikhangam

Home Minister Gaikhangam has stated that Lt Col Hopeson Ningshen of NSCN-IM, who has been accused of murdering SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan and his two subordinate staffs Y Token and A Rajen, is in jail and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is still investigating on three other persons who were directly involved in the triple murder.
He was replying to a query raised by MLA of Thangmeiband Constituency Kh Joykishan during the Question Hour of the ongoing 5th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
MLA Joykishan enquired Home Minister Gaikhangam about the reasons for failing to apprehend the persons who were directly involved in the gruesome murder case.
Gaikhangam replied that a report would be placed in the House during the ongoing Session.
Replying to a question of MLA K Sarat, Chief Minister Ibobi said that incentives of Rs.10 lakh each have been given to the Everest Summiteers and the State government would also consider giving them further rewards.
Answering to MLA Janghemlung Panmei, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing said the construction of 50-bedded hospital at Tamenglong District Headquarters has not been completed.
The total cost of construction is Rs.2126.31 lakhs and there is provision for employing specialist doctors in the hospital, he added.
Further replying to MLA L Ibomcha, Phungzathang said that the total number of candidates who have applied for MBBS/BDS Entrance Test is 5756 and the test has been cancelled according to a ruling of the Supreme Court.
More comments on the issue may be sub-judice, he added.
Replying to MLA Th Bishwajit, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that work order has been issued for construction of Singjamei Market Portion One and it would be completed by June 6, 2014 next year.
Answering to MLA Th Shyamkumar, Chief Minister Ibobi said that the election for Ward No.2 of Andro Nagar Panchayat could not be held as there was no candidate for the seat reserved for Scheduled Tribe.
The said election cannot be conducted again but the government would take up possible measures for the voters of that Ward, he noted.
Replying to MLA RK Imo, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip said that compensations for the land acquired for construction of road along Nambul river bank have already been given, but compensations for buildings are yet to be given to the owners.
Replying to MLA O Lukhoi, Chief Minister Ibobi said that the State government has proposed to set up a branch of State Bank of India at Wangoi sub-divisional headquarters in 2012 .
The government is in constant communication with the Bank officials to set up the branch at the earliest, he added.
Answering to MLA S Bira, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip presented a list of contractors and amount sanctioned for Khuga Dam in the House.
