MEELAL denounces delay in MU entrance exam

While denouncing the delay in conducting the MA Manipuri entrance examination for admission to Manipur University (MU) on October 17, which was scheduled to start from 1.30 pm but commended at 3 pm, without informing the students and their guardians; Meetei Erol Eyek Loinashilol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) has contended that such silence on the party of university authority is beyond institutional ethics.
Speaking to media persons at its office here on Tuesday, MEELAL general secretary Huirem Loikhomba said that unwanted incidents including question leakage for the entrance exam of MA Manipuri in MU occurred in previous years.
Recounting that the same incident occurred last year also, Loikhomba said that people and MEELAL will highly appreciate MU Manipuri department if it could prevent similar lapses this time.
He made it clear that every exam of MU (Manipuri) should follow the spelling guidelines laid down by the government and further cautioned that MEELAL will look into the matter if question setters defy the spelling guidelines while setting the questions.
Informing that many students complained to MEELAL about unavailability of textbooks for MU 2nd semester, he urged authorities concerned to ensure availability of the required books at the earliest and added that questions should not be set from unavailable books for the MA Manipuri 2nd semester exam.
Welcoming the upcoming 12th state assembly election, he, nonetheless, pointed out MEELAL has noticed non usage of native language and script in the stage backdrop, banner and poster of the candidates.
He appealed to the government and the candidates concerned to include Manipuri language and Meetei Mayek in all election related documents and banners.
