Thermal screening resumes at Mao Gate

With COVID-19 cases surging rapidly in the State in the recent past, thermal screening of all travellers entering Manipur has resumed at Mao Gate entry point.
The Health Department issued an order for immediate resumption of screening of all people entering Manipur.
It is reported that similar screening had already started at other entry points to Manipur since a couple of days back.
The Health Director had also asked the health officials at these entry points to screen army as well as para-military personnel entering the State without fail.
The step to resume the screening for COVID-19 at these entry points has reportedly been taken up in view of the rising trend of daily COVID-19 tally in the State during the last few days.
A six-member team from district medical office are reportedly posted at the Mao Gate entry point and it is reported that the screening would continue until further notice from the State Health Department.
Multi-purpose workers, Optometrist assistant, pharmacists, Grade IV employees and an ambulance driver are reportedly stationed at the screening point on the first day of commencement.
All travellers would be screened at the entry point and if anyone is found suspicious, they would be taken for RAT test, sources said.
Anyone with related symptoms should also report for RAT test by medical staff posted at the entry point.
As many 263 passengers were screened till 1.30 pm on Monday who were travelling in tourist buses, Wingers, trucks and other public transport vehicles.
However, no Covid positive case was detected at the Mao Gate entry point on the first day of resumption of thermal screening.
