CPI Wangkhem Local Council convened its 13th annual conference at the Yairipok residence of L Gouramani on Sunday with veteran party leaders Mutum Samungou and Ahongsangbam Gulapi attending as presidium members.
The conference began with unfurling of party's flag and taking pledge for betterment of the society while remembering Hijam Irabot.

He also claimed that party's relentless struggle resulted in getting statehood and inclusion of Manipuri language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution.
CPI Manipur state council secretary L Sotinkumar, who also took part in the conference, said that CPI has been launching different forms of agitations at the international level to protect human rights.
He also said that party's 'one job, one family' and 'food for all' demands led to implementation of MGNREGS and NSEA schemes respectively in the country.
He also claimed that AFSPA was repealed from seven assembly constituencies of Manipur due to intense pressure of the party.
The conference later resolved to install a statue of Irabot's follower Laishram Mera at a suitable site and publication of Mera's biography.
