Kakching, April 17 2022:
Kakching District United Clubs' Organisation (KADUCO) has expressed its reservation against making Hindi compulsory till Class X in the states of North East India.
In a release, KADUCO alleged the imposition of Hindi language in the North East is an attempt to undermine the indigenous communities living in the region.
"In a non-hindi speaking state like Manipur where many communities including Aimol, Anal, Chiru, Chothe, Gangte, Koireng, Kom, Lamkang, Maring, Meitei, Monsong, Moyon, Paite, Tangkhul, Tarao, Thadou, Kabui, Liangmei, etx live together in harmony, imposition of hindi language would be detrimental for the future generations", it alleged.
KADUCO also recalled the instances where petitions and PILs filed by various individuals to promote Hindi language in schools and make it the national language were rejected by the Supreme Court of India and High Courts.
Alleging that the imposition of Hindi language is against the concept of "Unity in diversity", KADUCO appealed to the State Government and all the elected members of Manipur Legislative Assembly to understand the aspirations of the people and initiate necessary steps to preserve the indigenous languages of the state.
