Today, a drive was carried out under the leadership of IMC Mayor and in the attendance of different Corporators at Lamphel Supermarket and the garbages dumped in the periphery were cleared.
There, L Lokeshwar said that dumping garbage at public spaces and rivers not only spoils the image of Imphal City and the State at large but also is hazardous to health.
Urging the people to enrol NGOs which collect garbage from their doorsteps so as to dump the waste to a proper site, the IMC Mayor appealed to the people to contact the IMC at 9862103144 if the NGOs don't come on time or is irregular in their service.
There is also a penalty for those who dump garbage in public spaces or unauthorised sites, he said and added that the IMC can serve the people in Imphal areas better if there is no shortage of manpower.
