Imphal, April 17 2022:
Vice-Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), N Rajmuhon has categorically stated that the university decided to hold the Post Graduate 3rd Semester examination in offline mode considering the future career of the students.
He made the above statement during a press meet held today at DMU in connection with the student's protest yesterday demanding the conduct of the 3rd semester examination in assignment mode.
The VC, while expressing dismay over yesterday's violent protest by the students, said that the decision to hold the examination in offline mode was taken in view of the possibility of a bleak future that the students may face if they clear the examination in assignment mode.

He further informed that acknowledging the constant pressure from the students to conduct the 3rd semester examination before April 30, the varsity scheduled the examination from April 20 onwards though it was decided earlier to start the examination in offline mode from May 9 .
Though the DMU examination committee faced inconveniences in rescheduling the exam dates, the said exam was rescheduled as per the students' request, he added.
The VC termed it as really unfortunate that the students are now demanding to conduct the exam in assignment mode even after complying to their request of rescheduling the exam.
Informing that around 70 percent of the 3rd semester syllabus have been covered, he said that there will be no harm in conducting the exam in offline mode.
He also mentioned that the UGC has directed to conduct exams in offline, online or blended after its order which allowed the conduct of physical classes in higher education institutions.
He went on to state that the university resolved to conduct the 3rd semester exams in offline mode after thoroughly considering the possibility that the students may not be rightfully placed in other institutions if they pass the exams in assignment mode.
Lastly he urged the students and guardians to analyze the pros and cons of passing an exam in 'assignment mode' and holding a degree on such a basis and called for peaceful conduct of 3rd semester offline examinations.
