Anti-malaria month observance Kicks off in Thoubal

The observance of Anti-Malaria month in Thoubal district kicked off along with a function at the Multipurpose Hall of Charangpat High School, Thoubal on Thursday.
The inaugural function of the month-long observance under the theme, "Invest in the future-Defeat Malaria", which is being organised by District Vector Borne Disease Control Socity,Thoubal, was attended by T.Ranjit Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner(DC),Thoubal and Lourembam (o) Anita Leima, Pradhan ofCharangpat Gram Panchayat as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Dr.S.Sharatkumar Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal; K.C.Luwang, District Malaria Officer (DMO) and Maibam Ibopishak Singh, Up-Pradhan of Charangpat Gram Pachayat were also present on the occasion as guests of honour.
Speaking at the function, T.Ranjit Singh pointed out that Malaria has widely infected people in remote areas, who carry out fishing activities, and added that ASHAs posted at remote areas need to be trained properly in order to curb spread of malaria.
Dr.S.Sharatkumar Singh called upon all for concerted effort in curbing spread of malaria.
As part of the function, a quiz competition for students was also held.
Staff members of the Medical Department including ASHAs, local leaders and students participated in the function.
