Fate of 34 candidates in CCpur, Pherzawl AGs sealed

The fate of 34 candidates who are contest ing the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly from six assembly constituencies in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts were sealed on Monday.
Polling in the six ACs was conducted successfully in most of the polling stations with the exception of stray incidents of violence in few places.
Some polling teams have also started arriving here since 4.30 pm.
As an initiative towards inclusive and accessible elections, the option of postal ballot facility was provided to PwDs, senior citizens above age of 80 years, Covid-19 suspect or affectedpatients and people employed in essential services.
Churachandpur and Pherzawl have 358 polling stations.
A totalof 1432 polling personnel, 71 micro-observers and 39 sector officers were appointed for the smooth conduct of the election.
In all, 118 polling stations were manned by women personnel.
These include 7 in Henglep, 82 in Churachandpur and 29 in Saikot AGs.
Polling station at B Vengnom (59/49) under Saikot AC was manned by PwD personnel.
There are 2,11,605 voters in the two districts (1,09,201 females and 4 third genders).
Report from the CEO said the polling percentage recorded in the six ACs was 74.45 per cent till 5 pm.
In Churachandpur AC the percentage of votes polled by was recorded at 80.34 percent, 80 per cent in Henglep, 68.50 per cent in Saikot, 75 per cent in Singhat, 72.69 per cent in Thanlon and 63.61 per cent in Tipaimukh AC .
