ZUF (K), KYKL cadres apprehended

Imphal, July 16 2021:
Manipur Police have arrested four cadres of Zeliangrong United Front (Kamson) and one KYKL cadre from different parts of the state.
The four ZUF (K) cadres have been identified as self-styled second lieutenant Duanthuingam Golmei (30), son of Rakhupao Golmei of Goiteng village, Khoupum; self-styled second lieutenant Gaikhuongam Ruangmei (41), son of Rangjai Ruangmei and Jangailung Golmei (24), son of Makudin Golmei both from Muktina village in Nungba sub-division and private Tangambou Maremai (45), son of late Masingbou Maremei of Phonglang Akutpa village, Kangpokpi.
Addressing a press conference at his conference hall, SP Imphal East N Herojit informed that based on input that some of cadres of ZUF (K) involved in extortion of Indian Railways companies as well as from vehicles plying along NH 2 were present at New Checkon KR Lane area, a commando team led by additional SP (Ops) M Roni and Imphal East Commando OC inspector Kh Henery under his supervision launched search operation around 9 pm on Thursday.
During the operation, the four ZUF (K) cadres were apprehended and they revealed of hiding cache of arms at Noney.
Accordingly, a combined team of Imphal East Commando Unit and 10 Assam Rifles carried out search operation around 11 pm at Noney Part 5 .
During the search, the team recovered one HK33 rifle with magazine, two RPG launchers and one SLR rifle hidden by the accused, he informed.
SP Imphal East continued that the all the four accused and the seized items have been handed over to Porompat police station for further legal action.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal West district police commando arrested one KYKL cadre identified as Joyson Abonmai alias Suraj alias Naoba (41), son of Mahenthui Abonmai of T Waichong, Senapati from near Singjamei Kshetri Leikai bridge on Friday around 3 pm.
On interrogation, he revealed that he was working under one Mayengbam Langamba alias Nanao of Kairak Machin dam area and was involved in extorting money from brickfields, construction companies and hospitals in Thoubal area.
The arrested KYKL cadre along with a mobile seized from him has been handed over to Singjamei police station for further action.
