Red Shield Division organises Football tournament

Imphal, July 16 2021:
As part of ongoing celebrations of Swarnim Vijay Varsh to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of victory in the 1971 Indo Pak war, the Lekhapani Battalion under Red Shield" Division organised a Football tournament for youth of Tirap region in Arunachal Pradesh.
The event was organised with an aim to motivate the youth towards physical fitness and sportsmanship and develop their interest in competitive sports by providing them a platform to showcase their talent and ensure constructive engagement.
The event was conducted from 11 to 15 Jul 2021 and saw overwhelming response wherein close to 100 players from seven teams of the region participating in the tournament.
The closely contested final match of Tipong Football Championship was played on 15 Jul 21 at LP School Ground, Tipong between Lai Pahar Eleven and Tirap tigers.
The match trophy were won by Lai Pahar Eleven.
The winners and the runners up teams were awarded the championship trophies along with other prizes.
The initiative taken by the Indian Army was highly appreciated by the local populace.
The Army too assured the people of continued co-operation in promoting Sports and team spirit in the area.
