Imphal, July 16 2021:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) in collaboration with the state Health Department organised a vaccination programme against Covid-19 at its office in Lamphel on Friday, wherein members of various allied CSOs and others were inoculated.
In a statement, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam, who also attended the programme, appealed to all concerned to get vaccinated and stay safe against the pandemic.
He then urged local clubs and Meira Paibi associations to extend their support in making maximum number of people get vaccinated.
While stressing the need for public support to the government's decision of imposing a total curfew from July 8 to curb the rising number of positive cases and fatalities in the state, the president also suggested political parties to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines while carrying out their activities.
"With regard to the prevailing situation, it would be best to increase the Covid-19 wards of RIMS and JNIMS Hospitals to address the shortage of beds, the victims of which mainly happen to be from low-income families/daily wage earners.
However, care and any emergency treatment of non-Covid patients should not be ignored at the same time", he added.
