Former chairman of Manipur Handloom & Handicraft Development Corporation Sagolsem Achouba along with members of Wangoi Development Council and Wangoi Municipal Council ward members inspected CHC Wangoi, which won awards at state and national level.
Talking to media persons after inspecting the CHC on Saturday, Achouba informed that the operation theatre at CHC Wangoi had been made functional few days back after long lay-off but poor patients are forced to spend additional money due to installation of out-dated and defective ultrasonography machine.
He said that the operation theatre at CHC Wangoi was handed over to the people on March 5,2013 by the then health minister (late) Phungzathang Tonsing but it remained non-operational for nine years due to lack of necessary infrastructures and manpower.
After a long lay-off, health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan announced that the operation theatre at CHC Wangoi had been made fully operationalised from June 1.However, installation of out-dated and defective ultrasonography machine at the CHC forced poor patients to go to private laboratory for ultrasound thereby entailing extra expenditure, he said and appealed to government to install a new ultrasonography machine which is in commensurate with time for convenience of poor patients.
