Kakching, June 02 2021:
Sora Eastern Sports' Association (SESA) and Sora Makha Development Club (SMDC) organised a protest demonstration on Wednesday morning with people of polling station No 37/31 and 37/32 of Sora village under Kakching assembly constituency demanding proper distribution of PDS rice.
In a joint release, SESA secretary MD Raesh Ahamed and SMDC secretary MD Sa- miuddin stated that the PDS rice provided by Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution through FPS dealers/agents are not being fully distributed to people covered by the two polling stations with NFSA beneficiaries provided only 4 kg of the allotted 5 kg and PMGKAY beneficiaries only 6 kg out of the 10 kg entitled to them.
While informing that a formal complaint was already placed before the deputy commissioner Kakching on the matter, the secretaries also expressed strong resentment that the protracted closure of the office of district supply officer (DSO) as such a critical juncture has been causing confusion amongst the people.
The release mentioned that the protest was held against non-distribution of PDS rice in full amount in-spite of the public disenchantment also notified to the DC.
On behalf of the public, SESA and SMDC also urged CM N Biren to urgently look into the matter and suggested that authorities concerned investigate the matter, take suitable action and ensure distribution of the full quota of rice to the beneficiaries.
They also cautioned of launching various forms of agitation if their demand is not honoured.
