Imphal, October 19 2021:
Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi has claimed that different schemes related with welfare of youth of the country are being taken up ever since BJP came to power at the centre and the BJP led coalition government in Manipur too is taking up Start Up programmes to provide job to youth.
Responding to the allegations levelled by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken that youth of the state are suffering depression under the BJP government, Sharda said that the MPCC president's charges was not true as various welfare schemes for youth have been taken up ever since BJP came to power in the country and the coalition government led by BJP in the state too has been launching Start Ups to facilitate self-employment to youth of the state.
Youth of the state are not suffering from depression but MPCC president is suffering from the disease, Sharda said, while addressing gathering at a political conference organised by BJP Wangkhem Mandal on Tuesday.
According to Sharda, nationwide total lockdown was imposed from March 24, 2020 after Covid-19 struck the country and a virtual meeting with chief ministers of all the states was held with the help of IT to take opinions on how to prevent starvation of people during the pandemic.
Accordingly, government provided rice and dal for every citizen of the country free of cost.
Apart from this, government deposited Rs 500 into the account of all those who opened Zero Balance bank account from Prime Minister' s Relief Fund and Rs 1000 to elderly people and widows above 60 years of age from the same fund, she added.
Terming N Loken's remark as baseless and malicious, Sharda said that BJP is a political party which gives future to youth of the country and Narendra Modi is the only Prime Minister in the world to seek opinions and communicate with public and his interaction with a young lady entrepreneur from the state and encouraging her was a big example.
She further said that Union home minister Amit Shah had recently make known Manipur to the world with the renaming of Mount Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar Island as Mount Manipur and no Congress leaders had such a vision.
She also claimed that BJP took huge role in inclusion of Manipuri language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution when the MP from the state remained silent on the issue and people of the state still remember the role played by the party on the issue.
People of the state could not avail welfare schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during initial phase of his regime as there was no BJPgovernment in the state and the schemes include Pension Yojana and Ujjwala scheme, Sharda said, adding that people of the country availed benefit of opening Zero Balance account during COVID-19 pandemic as government utilised this bank account for providing money to the poor.
The state BJP president further said that all intending candidates seeking BJP ticket in Wangkhem AC came out with strong intention to serve people but people should choose party's symbol as there will be no government without party.
She then appealed to booth level workers to work hard to ensure that party's candidate emerge victorious in the election.
After Bishnupur, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda continued her overnight campaign in Thoubal district by staying overnight at the party office on Monday.
The overnight stay campaign is part of the party's strategy to secure no less than 40 seats in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
During her stay, Sharda attended meetings with party workers from different units and discussed poll strategies apart from carrying out the "Thambal (Lotus) Campaign'.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle, Sharda informed that the overnight stay campaign is being initiated with the objective to get in touch with the public directly and understand their grievances and aspirations.
Booth level meetings are organised as part of the campaign, she added.
Asserting that there are huge differences between the works taken up by the BJP government in the last four years with those taken up by previous governments, Sharda maintained that the BJP government aims at interacting with the public at the ground level, understanding their grievances and take up initiatives to address those issues.
On Tuesday, a booth level meeting was held at Lilong as part of the overnight campaign and it was attended by BJP general secretary P Premananda, Minority Morcha state president Md Askar Ali, district president Thoubal Y Kumarjit and other party workers.
