Fast unto death in demand of Jiribam district begins

In demand of a full-fledged Jiribam district, social activist Khundrakpam Rajkumar has begun his fast unto death stir from today at the branch office of the Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) with unconditional supports from Meira Paibis of Jiribam and the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC).
In the meantime, a delegate of Information Centre for Hill Areas, Manipur (ICHAM) today met the JDDC to reconsider its decision to impose economic blockade on the NH 37 from 7 pm of September 16 to 7 pm of September 23.However, JDDC told them that a meeting of the committee will discuss the matter.
Meanwhile, around 1000 loaded trucks are ready to leave Jiribam for Imphal under tight security measures of Assam Rifles, CRPF, MR, IRB and Manipur Police Commandos.
The loaded trucks will be leaving for Imphal tomorrow morning.
The Transporters and Drivers' Council (TDC) will also be accompanying the trucks along with dozers and cranes.
