Eight orphans ran away from Children home
Accuses the authority of feeding leftovers and ill treatment

Eight orphans who were staying in the Destitute Childrens Home at Lei Ingkhol, Imphal East ran away from the orphanage this morning, complaining that they were ill treated and were served leftovers meant for pigs.
The eight children who ran away from the orphan home were brought before the media where an interaction was held at the office of the Kangleipak Students Federation (KSA) today.
Speaking to the media, the orphans said that they have been ill treated by the owner of the Orphan Home, Ahanthem Tollen on different occasions.
At times he even refused to serve them their daily foods and at other times pigfeeds were served to them.
They further accused the owner of not giving them any time for studies.
They were made to dug up pits for toilet outlets and also cook foods for the pigs.
After the rigorous work they were supplied with rotten bananas, breads and other edibles which were kept hidden by him for a long period of time.
They were even beaten with sticks if took rest even for a while.
The happiest moments in the Orphan Home are when some visitors come with gifts and other presents to be distributed to them.
Then they were bathed and were made to put on clean cloths.
After the presents have been distributed and the visitors have left, the owner (Tollen) would take away all the presents, they said.
Tollen even threatened to sell them off as soon as the economic blockade is lifted.
They also complained that the ill treatment minimized to a certain extent from the day the childrens saw Tollen making love to the cook.
There was also an instance where the son of the cook allegedly raped a young girl of the Home this year.
Speaking to reporters, Y Pradeepkumar, President of KSA said that this is not the first time the children have complained against the ill treatment meted out to them by Tollen.
The staffs of the Destitute Children's Home and the parents of the children should report to KSA by 1pm tomorrow.
The Union will inspect other children homes of the state.
