Apfii Saliki of Senapati reopens

The long awaited women market of Senapati, Apfi Saliki was finally opened on Wednesday by ADC Senapati caretaker chairman A Kapani.
The reopening cum blessing programme was held in front of Apfii Saliki in the presence of Senapati SDO S KunguibaThangal, Paomata SDO Dr Angshim Dangshawa, Chilivai Phaibung SDO, Christian Home, additional SP Tholu Rocky and other town commissioners.
In his address, Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC) president A John stated that there was delay in shifting the women vendors to the permanent structure due to incomplete works like black topping and washroom construction followed by the restrictions imposed to contain Covid-19 pandemic.
While urging all women vendors to keep their surroundings clean, the KSTC president stated that all should abide by the rules arid regulations framed by KSTC.
He said the committee will also start scrutiny of members very soon.
The women vendors were asked to shift their wares and commadities to Apfii Saliki within this week as dismantling of the temporary tent market sheds beside the ground will be begin from Monday.
As chief guest of the event, A Kapani expressed gratitude to the BJP-led government under the leadership of N Biren for construction of the market under a one-time Special Assistance of Central Grant Scheme, 2017-18 and said Senapati is fortunate to have a women's market in the heart of the town.
The market was constructed by the government irrespective of hills or valley in order to empower women, he added.
Kapani also declared that a separate garbage collection vehicle will be engaged by October end or November.
Around 300 women vendors would be accommodated in the market.
The ground floor of Apfii Saliki will have vegetables vendors and the upstairs reserved for fruit, dry fish and singju (Manipuri vegetable salad) sellers.
