RPF/PLA greets people on Chakaan Gaan-Ngai

The proscribed UG group RPF/PLA has greeted the people of the state especially the people of Kabui Community on the occasion of Chakaan Gaan-Ngai and wished peaceful co-existence among the different communities residing in the state.
In a statement, RPF stated that Gaan-Ngai, the religious festival of the Kabui community which is celebrated after the harvesting season once again tightens the unbreakable bond of brotherhood among the different communities in the state.
Held after the harvesting season, the Gaan-Ngai festival is a festival in which the people of Kabui community pray to the Almighty God Tingkao Ragwang for better harvest in the next season.
Tamchan Laam dance and Thei-Kadi-Laam dance are also inseparable part of the festival.
Rangteng Pammei, Long Kumei and Kairang Lonmei are some distinctive events of the festival which aims to unite the scattered Kabui villages, the statement observed.
The festival which is enriched with the rich philosophical background of the Kabui community has been playing an important role in conserving the rich culture, traditions and heritage of the community since long.

Salang Maiba and his wife Salangnupi Huidri Padambi were also inseparable from Moirang Kangleirol which shows that Meeteis and Kabuis have close tie since time immemorial.
Maichou Khongnaikhul Tepipa was also a major contributor towards promoting the culutre and tradition of the state during the reign of Meidingu Khagemba.
And again in the modern times, Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu were notable Kabubi personalities who worked for a united Manipur.
During the Seven Years Devastation period, the Kabuis also played an important role in regaining the lost freedom of the then Manipur, the statement.
