CPI (ML) appeals to vote for those able to end AFSPA and UG issues

The CPI (ML) has appealed to the people of the state to cast their votes for those candidates who have the will and the desire to resolve the insurgency problem in the state through a political dialogue and also repeal Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 .
Addressing media persons at the office of CPI (ML), RIMS road here today, Shanker Das, CPI(ML), Central Committee Member (North East in-charge),who is on a three-day tour to Manipur in connection with the upcoming polls, said that although the Party has not yet decided to fight the Manipur State Assembly election, it is working in full swing in 19 different states of India.
If the Party comes to power in the Centre, it will try out its level best to fulfill the basic demands of the people of Manipur.
He further said that Assembly election in the state is going to be held in the midst of all the problems created by the reactionary policy of the Congress and CPI led coalition government.
The people of the state are suffering as a result of the military rule in experiencing in the state.
Because of the interference of AFSPA and RAW, the democratic rights of the people has been curtailed.
Until and unless there is a complete change in the set up of the government's policies and programmes, the people of the state will not be able to enjoy social justice and democratic rights, he added.
S Shyamsunder, State Secretary, CPI (ML),said that even though all the political leaders of India claims that the issue of the UG groups in the state can only be solved through political dialogue, no effort have been made to bring a solution.
