Bomb explodes, 2 recovered

Imphal, January 05 2012:
One day after CorCom announced its decision to ban the Congress party and all its election related activities, unidentified persons triggered a blast at the Yumnam Leikai Ngakraba Leirak residence of a businessman at around 5.30 pm today.
According to police source, one hand-grenade exploded at the court-yard of one Taorem Deepak (41) while another explosive spotted at the residential compound has been recovered by police.
Even though impact of the blast caused partial damage to the gate and some part of the building, there is no report of human casualty or injury.
A prompt protest demonstration was staged by the locals at the Ngakraba Leirak section of NH-39 .
On the otherhand, State police personnel recovered a hand-grenade from the Konthoujam residence of one Dr Sapam Ranjan.

Police report said that the explosive device was lobbed by unknown persons at around 9.30 pm of January 3 .
It is informed that Dr Ranjan is preparing for contesting the upcoming assembly election from Konthoujam assembly constituency.
