Mishap claims 12 near Piphima village

Atleast 12 passengers have been killed and more injured when a Shillong-bound bus fell into a deep gorge near Piphima village in Nagaland last night.
According to travel agencies, the accident occurred at around 9.30 pm when the passenger carrier (MN01/1833) of Network Travels tumbled down a roadside gorge of about 300 feet near Piphima village, which is nearly 30 kilometres from Dimapur on National Highway 2 .
It is said that 12 people, including one driver and his assistant, died on the spot while several of the bus occupants suffered injuries, some critically.
The Shillong-bound bus carrying 47 passengers left Imphal at around 10 am yesterday.
All the other remaining passengers have been admitted to Dimapur Hospital.
