Imphal, January 30 2022:
Undeterred by denial of a BJP ticket, owner of The Sangai Express Nishikant Singh Sapam has decided to fight the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election as an Independent candidate from Keishamthong Assembly Constituency.
A joint meeting of the members of Team Nishikant and his supporters was held this afternoon at his Sega Road, Thouda Bhabok Leikai residence.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the meeting, Nishikant said that he would not retract from his steps but stand firm and contest the forthcoming election as an Independent candidate.
He said that he would campaign hard together with Team Nishikant and his supporters and further exuded confidence that he would certainly emerge victorious.
"I love BJP and believe in Modiji's BJP but the party's ticket is not enough to serve the motherland (Manipur) satisfactorily", Nishikant said.

People are more aware of the current trajectory of Manipur, he said.
"As I came out to serve and save the motherland, there is no question of retracting from my steps", he asserted.
Notably, Nishikant earlier announced his determination to fight the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election and he joined the race for BJP ticket.
But his name was left out when BJP announced its candidates today for the 60 Assembly seats of the State.
To a query, Nishikant said that he has not taken any decision to join any other political party.
He asserted that he would fight the election as an Independent candidate.
"I believe in Modiji's principle of 'Na Khaoonga, Na Khanedunga' and I will strictly abide by the same principle", Nishikant said.
To another query, he said, "People of Manipur would have learnt about Team Nishikant.
The masses and the media must have known through different surveys about whose wave is stronger" .
"Let the masses give a befitting reply to the act of denying the prize to the frontrunner of the race", he said.
He then appealed to all his supporters not to target and vandalise flags and posters of any political party including BJP and further urged the gathering not to indulge in any kind of violence and mudslinging.
