State Level Polo: Stage set for women's and junior boys' finals

The final line up of both the 17th Women and the 5th Junior Boys (U-16) State Level Polo Tournaments organised by the All Manipur Polo Association were completed today.
The schedule of the final matches is, however, yet to be fixed.
The first semi-final match of the junior boys competition was a thrilling contest as Arvind Polo Club-A edged out Thoubal Polo Club 5-4 thanks to a golden goal in the extra ground after the two sides were locked at 4-4 till the end of the four chukkers.
A Kishan shone with three goals including the golden goal in this match while Th Nongpoknganba and Th Sanathoi grabbed a goal apiece.
Th Pamheiba and N Kirankumar scored two goals each for Thoubal Polo Club in a lost cause.
Linthoingambi Kangjei Lup (LKL), meanwhile, overwhelmed Arvind Polo Club-B 10-1 in the other semi-final clash to set up a final date with Arvind Polo Club-A.A Bijoy and Dinesh Pebam scored three goals each in LKL's 10-1 win as L Abinash and Kh Johnson managed two goals each.
It was a dominating start for LKL with A Bijoy scoring once and L Abinash adding two in the first chukker which also saw Arvind Polo Club add their only goal via Calvin.
Denish Pebam then struck once in the second chukker before A Bijoy completed his treble in the third chukker by scoring twice and Kh Johnson opened his account.
Denish then struck his other two goals in the fourth chukker and Johnson completed his double as Arvind Polo Club-B riders remained struggling the game throughout.
Later in the women's second semi-final, LKL cruised to a 8-2 win over Samadon Ayangba Polo Club to set up the final date with CHPC who dumped Thangmeiband PC 6-0 earlier on January 23 in the first semi-final match.
Y Ranjita made the most of the chances to score 4 four goals alone for LKL today while her compatriot, Kh Habe scored twice.
LKL were 3-0 ahead till halfway as Kh Habe scored the opener in the 4th minute and Y Ranjita added once in the opening chukker and another in the second chukker.
Ranjita grabbed her third in the third chukker and Kh Deventy struck one to ensure LKL take a 5-2 lead as M Priya and S Ngounu chipped in a goal apiece for the losing side.
O Elizabeth, Y Ranjita and Kh Habe all took their turns to add a goal each in the last chukker and
made the final score read 8-2 .
