Yangmaso Shaiza's death anniversary observed

The United All Communities Social Up-lifters (UNACSU), Kangleipak observed the 38th death anniversary of former chief minister Yangmaso Shaiza at the office premises of CCSK, New Checkon here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Manipur University law department faculty member Nameirakpam Brajakanta expressed that the day is an important one for the valley dwellers as he was brutally murdered on this day in 1984 for his activities to bring unity and integrity among the different communities of the state.
The present generation should remember his contribution towards the movement of unity and integrity, he said.
At the same time, it is necessary for the present generation to introspect the relationship among the indigenous communities and their positions in today's Manipur.
It is a must for the indigenous communities to stand united and work towards a common goal for the future of the state, Brajakanta added.
In his address, UNACSU and CCSK president Jitendra Ningomba said that Yangmaso Shaiza was a leader, who worked for unity and integrity among the paople of different communities of the state without any differentiation on religion.
At the same time, he also contributed significantly towards the revival of Sanamahism.
Following his path could bring integrity in the state, he said.
He also expressed suspicion of some political parties and politicians trying to create misunderstanding among the different communities of the state.
It is time for the people of the state to identify such elements and take a united stand against them.
Unity among the different indigenous communities is the only way forward for a strong and united Manipur, he added.
