Women cops to man 130 PSs in Imphal East

At least 130 polling stations out of 413 in Imphal East district will be manned by women personnel only, which include all the polling stations in Yaiskul and Wangkhei ACs.
Speaking to media persons today, Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana said that all the polling stations in Imphal East other than Andro will have some women personnel in conducting the election.
Of all the polling stations in Imphal East, 222 are considered normal while 181 are counted as vulnerable, the DC said and added that the district has 63 critical polling stations.
Saying that the district administration is preparing to keep minimum facilities in every polling station such as ramps and drinking water among others, the DC continued that at least one model polling station will be identified in every Constituency of the district with additional facilities.
Diana further maintained that 70 percent of arm license holders of the district had deposited their arms.
Further stating the election preparation is almost complete in the district which has 10 ACs, she added that one RO will supervise two ACs each while AEROs will be stationed in all 10 ACs.
The Final Electoral Roll had already been published on January 5, she added.
Imphal East has altogether 3,22,517 voters which include 2710 service voters 2929 PWD voters, 5014 senior voters (above 80 yrs) two electors under preventive detention and another two voters belonging to SoO groups, Diana said and added that the service voters will cast their voters through Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) .
Necessary arrangements have also been made for the PWD electors to cast their votes through postal ballot.
Braille voter guide and sign language interpreter will also be installed in all polling stations for the blind and deaf electors, the DC said and continued that altogether 541 EVMs will be utilized in Imphal East district.
Further stating that 2165 polling personnel will be deployed in the district, she added that the strength of security personnel will almost be similar to the number of polling personnel.
At least 10 strong rooms, five counting halls, five ETBPS counting halls, have also been identified, she added.
She appealed to all the candidates to obey the model code of conduct.
