Kakching, May 15 2015 :
Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) has expressed strong displeasure over 'forcing' its cadres to leave its designated camp at Semol in Chandel district by the 6 Dogra Regiment recently.
The KNLF is a signatory to the Suspension of Operations (SoO) .
"We urged the authorities to reinstate our designated camp within three days' time or else we will unilaterally abrogate the agreement of suspension of operation (SoO)," warned KNLF General Secretary Lalmoi Haokip while talking to journalists at Chelep Harmol camp of Pakan Revolutionary Army (PRA) on Thursday.
KNLF cadres came to the designated camp after two of its cadres allegedly assaulted the village chief of Sehao, four other villagers and six labourers on May 9 .
The KNLF general secretary further said the two cadres of the group involved in the incident had been handed to the Dogra Regiment.
He claimed that following the incident at Sehao, the Dogra Regiment at the instigation of some individuals came rushing to the KNLF camp at Semon and threatened all cadres and then forcibly took them away from there.
The Army personnel also completely pulled down the camp later, Lalmoi alleged.
"The Dogra Regiment should pay compensation to the KNLF for the destruction of the camp," he demanded.
KNLF signed SoO with Manipur and Central Governments on September 9, 2013 during a tripartite talk in Imphal.
PRA camp ''commanding officer' Chelep Harmol told the journalists that the group has allowed the KNLF cadres along with villagers of Semol and Mokot to take temporary shelter at the group's camp.
Chelep claimed that these villagers have fled home fearing torture and atrocities meted out to them.
"We've allowed them to stay here for only five days.
The KNLF cadres must leave the camp after this period," he stated.
Meanwhile, the wife of Semol village Chief Secretary, Ninglam maintained that all villagers of Semol, Mokot and other neighbours have been able to live in peace because of the presence of KNLF in Semol.
She said that the people had to face a harsh situation earlier because the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) in cahoots with the chiefs of Sehao and Mokot forcibly grabbed 50 percent of arable land of Semol.
She recalled the brutal killing of Seijang village chief and a villager named Tiljathang in Sehao in recent past.
"I urge the Government to bring back all KNLF cadres to its original designated camp.
We've decided to settle where KNLF cadres stay and die where they die," she said.
