Imphal, January 04:
An unmanned airborne vehicle (UAV) suspected to be a military spy plane crashed today afternoon around 3.20 pm at the Kid's World near the Imphal Tulihal airport.
No one was injured as none was at the crash site.
The army has instituted a court of enquiry to enquire into the matter according to army sources.
The vehicle had fallen about 33 m short of the runway of the Tulihal airport due to mechanical defect the source added.
The unmanned airborne vehicle can fly at a good height while it is controlled at the ground.
The plane was hovering around the area and suddenly came down crashing into the Kid's World.
The Kid's world is a children play ground.
Luckily as the day was not a Sunday not many children were in the park.
The plane had hit at a bushy area or the park where there was none.
If the plane had deviated slightly towards the airport and collided with an aeroplane a major tragedy would have occurred according to those present in the area.
Army personnel immediately came in and stopped all from entering the area.
Even police personnel and press were not allowed to enter into the area.
The plane which was completely destroyed was later taken away by the army personnel.
Security guard of the Kid's World said they were also not allowed into the crash site.
