Imphal, October 03 2009:
The proscribed RPF and its army wing PLA have greeted all the people of Manipur on the occasion of Mera Hou Chongba.
A press release issued by the outfit's publicity secretary T Leisemba described Mera Hou Chongba as a very significant historic festival which symbolises the age-old brotherhood among the indigenous people of Manipur.
Recalling the mythology of the land in which two brothers separated and settled at hills and valley to eventually become the hill people and valley people, the outfit remarked that the Mera Hou Chongba festival is the annual gathering of the two brothers.
Though it would be impossible for India to break up the integrity of Manipur, people need to be cautious against the divisive politics of India.
Against the continuous attempts of the Government of India to sow seeds of distrust and enmity amongst the people of Manipur, it's time for all the ethnic groups of both the hills and valley to show their togetherness and unity, the outfit asserted.
The outfit further conveyed its wish that the Mera Hou Chongba festival may bind together all the ethnic groups of Manipur and bring about unity and social harmony.
