Womenfolk of Luwangshangbam area today staged a sit-in protest demanding conditional release of four women arrested by the police in connection with shoe throwing incident at the house of IFCD minister, N Biren on September 30 last.
The participating womenfolk said that the four women arrested by the police were not involved in the storming and shoe throwing incident.
The act was performed by the members of the JACs formed in connection with killings of Ch Sanjit and Th Rabina.
Members of the two JACs had come and stormed the minister's house on that day.
Any member of the Luwangshangbam meira paibis participated in the throwing of shoes, they clarified.
Mangsatabam Loitangjao (40) wife of M Jibon of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai, member of the Luwangshangbam Gram Panchayat ward no.V, Mangshatabam Phajarei (57) wife of M Iboyaima, member of the ward no.III, secretary of Meira Paibi of the Luwangshangbam Awang Leikai Mangshatabam Leima (44) wife of M Tolen and Nongthonbam Inaobi (35) wife of Robindro of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai should be released without any condition at the earliest.
They were picked by the Heingang police after registering a case following receive of a complaint lodged by rifleman L Basanta of 2nd IRB, commander of the house guard cum personal escort of the minister.
They have been arrested by the police on the wrong information provided by the escort personnel of the minister, they alleged.
Placards like "Bring amicable solution between Apunba Lup and government to allow students go school, arresting people will not bring any solution, etc.
were displayed at the protest site.
