Imphal, October 03 2009:
Even as the state government has taken up various projects to ensure free movement of traffics and pedestrians on the busy streets of Imphal area, the most congested Paona Bazar road - which recorded the highest numbers of business transaction in town - seems like a parking area.
Vehicles have been parked haphazardly in this area as if the government is paying no attention to it.
In short, over half of the total space of the road has been used as parking area of two wheeler and four wheeler vehicles.
Evidently, the road from the entry point at Keishampat till BT Flyover resembles a parking place.
The space invasion by vehicles has caused immense hardships to shoppers.
The frequent sight of heavy vehicles negotiating the already clogged road is another hitch for shoppers and pedestrians.
Though traffic police has intensified drive to regulate traffic rules in other parts of the Capital, haphazard parking of vehicles continues to be a regular feature in Paona Bazar area.
A storekeeper at Paona Bazar said, the parking of vehicles along the road has greatly affected the movement of the shoppers and shopkeepers while drawing the attention of the concerned authority to crack the jams.
