Will try to mend shortcomings of Congress: Govindas

Former Indian National Congress candidate and Manipur Legislative Assembly member Govindas Konthoujam on Wednesday pledged to take up all the development projects in the state which the Congress party failed to take up over the past 60 years, with the support o the ruling BJP government in the centre and the state.
On Wednesday afternoon, Govindas inaugurated a mass BJP enrolment camp at his Ningthoukhong Bazar residence in Bishnupur district.
Speaking on at the occasion, Govindas clarified that he did not leave the INC to join the BJP for his self-interests but for j the sake of bringing about development and progress to his Bishnupur constituency and the state.
He recounted his stint with RSS during his early political year.
However, he observed that the Congress failed to take up many development works in : he state during its entire 60 years in power, and as such, he assured to address the shortcomings as much as possible.
Stating that he joined BJP to help in the progress of the state after witnessing efficiency of the BJP leaders in governance; the ex-MLA said that the enrolment camp was inaugurated with the aim of strengthening the party and help it win the upcoming elections.
He then said that BJP candidates in the 6 assembly constituencies of the district will work hard to win in the upcoming polls and thus, appealed to the people to extend their support in this regard.
In his speech, BJP Manipur and Nagaland in-charge and secretary (organisation) Abhay Giri said that the people are well aware of the changes brought on by the PM Modi-led BJP government.
Various schemes/projects have been introduced to ensure an equal platform for the people.
In addition, the central government has been paying more attention to development of states under the BJP government; he said and as such, urged the people to extend full support to BJP.
Meanwhile, following the mass resignation of 6165 Congress active workers from the party on August 18, a target has been set to provide enrolment forms via online to enrol 15,000 members to BJP, with 100 enrolments at a time, during the month long enrolment campaign.
The inaugural function was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president N Nimbus, Media cell vice president in-charge Ch Chidananda, BJP Bishnupur Mandal president N Raghumani, BJP Bishnupur District Committee president RK Bimola and BJP District secretary in-charge Kh Surmila.
