Seminar on Anglo-Manipuri War commences

A two day seminar on the theme "Anglo-Manipuri War 1891, Battles and Significance in the History of Manipur(Kangleipak)"organized by Justice Committee for Anglo Manipur War 1891, Martyrs and Victims of Kangleipak (Manipur) (Justice Committee) began today at GM Hall.
Dr N Pramod, Associate Professor, LMS Law College and Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, vice-chairman, Justice Committee 1891 attended the inaugural function as the chief delegate and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Dilipkumar said that the seminar is being held in commemoration of the Anglo-Manipur War fought in April, 1891 .
He further said that the State Government had declared a general holiday on April 23 to commemorate the Anglo-Manipur War.
He maintained that many organisations and family members of the martyrs have been observing Anglo-Manipur War by paying fitting tributes to the martyrs.
In the technical session which was chaired by historian Naorem Joykumar, Dr K Indramani, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, DM College of Arts spoke on the topic "Political Scenario of Manipur Before 1891 (1762 AD-1891 AD) while social activist Dr Dhanabir Laishram spoke on the topic "Causes of Anglo-Manipur War, 1891.Ak Bimol, Associate Professor, Jawharlal Nehru University deliberated on the topic "Anglo-Manipur War, 1891 and Khongjom Day on April 23" .
