Imphal, March 31 2018:
Six sewing and two weaving machines were distributed to set up vocational training centre at Sangaiprou by 5 JAK RIF of 9 sector Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ IGAR (South) under Operation Sadbhavana today, said a statement issued by the PRO of Assam Rifles.
The initiative for women empowerment will help in training and building skills of sewing and weaving mainly to the women of the villages of Ghari, Sangaiprou and other villages in the vicinity with the aim to make them self reliant.
The handing over ceremony was attended by Brig Amit Kabthiyal, Commander.
9 Sector Assam Rifles and other eminent personalities including Shiman Marzit, Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Sanahanbi Devi, vice president BJP Mahila Morcha, N Rattan Singh, village Pradhan along with the councillors and ward members of Sangaiprou and Ghari.
The ceremony included a cultural event staged by the local people followed by an interactive session in which the local authorities and the people expressed their gratitude to the Army and Assam Rifles for providing the assistance which will enable skill building.
