Congress interaction programme: O Joy expresses concern on existing scenario of Manipur

Thoubal, September 20 2026: Veteran politician Okram Joy expressed grave concern over the existing scenario in Manipur and alleged that 'Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is responsible for the turmoil in Manipur' .

O Joy raised the concern while speaking as the chief guest at the one-day interaction programme held at the residence of former Minister and member of Political Affairs Committee of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Moirangthem Hemanta at Tentha today.

The interaction programme was organised by Wangjing Tentha Block Congress Committee (WTBCC).

O Joy asserted that it is the responsibility of the elected members of Manipur Assembly to save Manipur and put an end to the ongoing turmoil thereby restoring peace and normalcy.

He maintained that the fate of the State will continue to be at risk if the elected members of Manipur rely on the Centre and wait for their directives.

In order to resolve the ongoing issues in Manipur, the veteran politician stressed on the importance of concerted efforts by the elected members and work for the well-being of the people of the State.

In view of the enmity among the various communities residing in the State, O Joy said that it is high time that all stand united and work collectively for peace and progress in Manipur.

Today's interaction programme was attended by former Minister Moirangthem Hemanta; Wangjing Tentha Block Congress Committee president Sh Gopeshwor; Thoubal District Congress Committee (TDCC) president Yumnam Basanta; TDCC secretary Khonjengbam Shyama Singh and MPCC secretaries N Lukhoi, S Dhaneshwor and W Ratan and Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency former pradhans as presidium members among others.
