SMART meeting held in Guwahati

Imphal, May 07 2015 :
The two day East India Regional Workshop on SMART Policing was held on May 6 and 7, 2015 in Guwahati and was inaugurated by Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister of Assam.
It was attended by top officials of Home Ministry and BPR&D besides representatives of the 8 states of North East India and West Bengal.
Manipur Police was represented by L.Kailun, IGP Zone II and I.K.Muivah, DIG Range 1 .
The acronym SMART Policing stands for Strict and Reliable, Modern & Mobile, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive, Techno-Savvy and Trained.
The purpose of the Workshop is to improve policing by exchanging ideas and knowledge of good policing in the form of best practices from the various states and replicating them all over the country.
Even the best practices around the world is sought to be incorporated in making the police people friendly and efficient.
