Imphal, February 05 2023:
In continuation of the efforts of Assam Rifles to reach out and assist the nation with humanitarian aid, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a blood donation camp with assistance from a specialised medical team of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Hospital at Tengnoupal town on Saturday, said PRO IGAR (S) .
In a release, the PRO informed that the blood donation camp was organised to highlight the importance of blood donation and the crucial role it plays in saving lives.
A total of 40 individuals, including villagers and troops of Tengnoupal Battalion took part in the blood donation.
The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and to thank voluntary, unpaid donors for their life saving gifts of blood, it added.
On the other-hand, Shangshak Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a medical camp under Operation Sadhbavana at Zingshui village in Kamjong district on Sunday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the camp was organised since the locals don't have access to any medical facilities in nearby area due to location of the village far from Kamjong district HQ where the basic medical facilities are available.
A total of 312 villagers, including 114 women and 72 children, from Zingshui and nearby villages were examined and provided with basic medication.
While informing that the initiative by Assam Rifles has solved the long pending need of medical assistance for the villagers, the PRO said village authorities applauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles for such kind gesture and expressed confidence that it would help build mutual trust and maintain peace and harmony in the region.
