RGT Season-8 to be conducted at state level

Ringui's Got Talent or RGT, a seasonal district level event, earlier open to people of Ukhrul district only, has now been upgraded to a state level event with the onset of its season-8 .
Speaking to the media, representatives of Dewdrops, the event organisers, opined that though the youth of Manipur are gifted with diverse talents, their potentials remain largely untapped due to varying adverse factors.
One obvious reason is probably attributed to lack of motivation and platform, amongst other things.
Thus the event, RGT, is intended to create that niche for the youngsters to prove their talents.
It seeks to feature singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and other performing arts at state level.
The event welcomes all who have for long been longing to showcase and prove themselves at an appropriate platform.
This event seeks to help the participating artistes to get due grooming from celebrated artistes and excel in his or her talent to a greater height.
In organising this show, it also aims to create a space for budding artistes to start moulding their career and to promote professionalism, they elaborated.
Further stating that such events play great role in peace building during times of conflict, they also expressed by providing a common platform to exhibit innate talent and acquired skills, on going efforts to promote peace, harmony and camaraderie between villages, groups, tribes affected by social and political problems would bear the fruit.
RGT would make all efforts to spread the message of peace and reconciliation amongst the people of the state, they affirmed and conveyed that the event's other conviction is to build a vibrant society free from all forms of social evils.
By organising this programme, it is hoped that the youth will be weaned away from the scourge of drugs and substance abuse, they said and explained that RGT is a cherished dream of the Dewdrops, an organisation formed by youths from different walks of lives to engage and alleviate the younger generation and to uplift the society through nurturing young talents and tourism.
This talent hunt, which is being guided by Dewdrops' vision for a better tomorrow will be an on-going project to hone and streamline the young talents of Manipur.
RGT contest is open to all the people of the state who are in the age group between 10 to 60 years, they informed.
Ringui is one of the biggest villages situated in the South-West of Ukhrul district having population of about 4000 Tangkhul Nagas with rich cultural heritage.
Ringui is a pioneer of him production among the Tangkhul Nagas, and a home to popular actors, artistes and music com posers.
Moreover, 'Ringui Luira Phanit' (Seed Sowing Festival) is one of the most popular and participated cultural festivals in Ukhrul district from various villages, mostly enchanted by the participation of Yorla (women folks who are married to outsiders) from across the state and beyond.
