State Panchayat members take protest to Delhi

Representatives of Manipur State Panchayat Parishad staged protest in New Delhi against non-release of MGNREGS fund for works executed in the year 2021-22 and submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister.
During the protest on Sun day, representatives of Manipur State Panchayat Parishad held placards and banners denouncing non-release of MGNREGS fund by Manipur government, government's inability to conduct the 6th general Panchayat election and non-devolution of power to Panchayat.
Manipur State Panchayat Parishad leader and Up-Adhyaksha of Thoubal ZP T Nungshi Singh informed the media that Manipur government is yet to release MGNREGS fund for works executed in the year 2021-22 and this indeed is unfair.
He said that Government of India released Rs 756 crore on June 23, 2022 to clear liability for works executed under MGNREGS but the government of Manipur is yet to handover the fund tp Panchayat.
Government did release Rs 250 crore in October and November, 2022 but continues to hold back the remaining Rs 506 crore, he said, adding that the protest was staged in New Delhi to highlight unfair acts of the state government.
