Imphal, February 03 2015:
A day after members of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) went on rampage inside the university campus in protest against the alleged failure to meet all the requirements of the university departments, the union has warned of launching series of intense agitation in case Vice-Chancellor of the university fails to give positive response to the charter of demands submitted to him at the earliest.
Announcing the call during a press meet held at its office on Tuesday, Sarangthem David, president of MUSU reiterated that the union submitted an 11-point charter of demands meant for the welfare of the university to the VC on December 29 last but no positive response has been received so far which is very unfortunate.
He said that a report will be sent to University Grant Commission (UGC) and Ministry of Human Resource Development soon to seek intervention into the matter.
Representatives of MUSU made it clear about its stances on their de-mands during a meeting held between the union and the university authority on Monday.
However, there was no positive response from the side of the authority so far, he pointed out.
The president of MUSU said that the union was compelled to come up with the decision to agitate as the university authority has utterly failed to meet their long sought demands despite repeated request.
The union will launch different forms of agitation until the demands are met, he vowed.
Informing that building of Life Science Department was found without proper ceiling and electric fitting during an inspection of Life Science, Chemistry and Anthropology Departments of the university by members of MUSU, he lamented that building of Chemistry Department was also found in poor condition.
