Imphal, February 03 2015:
Claiming that a person who identified himself as the commander of KNF-MC is trying to construct a road running across a private field in Tera Khongsangbi Tharoi Lok Loukon owned by Moirangthem Muhindro without the latter's consent, the convener of the Joint Action Committee formed in opposition to the road construction has asserted that a road blockade will be launched if the present plan is not withdrawn.
The convener of the JAC Ch Birendra while speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club on Tuesday contended that the whole episode has a communal tone and could potentially spark tension between different communities.
He reminded that Tera Khongbi Tharoi Lok Loukon which falls inside Bishnupur district is a patta land inhabited by the Meitei community and not an unclaimed wasteland.
Further, the area in dispute falling under pata no 1249 and dag no 9 is under the ownership of Muhindro.
He expressed his total disapproval to the coercive tactics employed by the self-styled KNF-MC commander identified as German and added that the attempts to forcefully take possession of a legally owned land to build the road are unacceptable.
He issued a warning to German to discontinue threatening the land owner stating that he cannot act arbitrarily by wielding guns and take possession of land presently under cultivation and belonging to another person.
Making an appeal to reconsider his plans, Birendra informed that a public meeting could be convened in the near future to discuss the manner in which the course of the road was planned.
Calling for the intervention of the administration, he informed that a memorandum had been submitted to the government authorities concerned on the conflicting situation but expressed his disappointment that no action was taken up.
