Imphal, April 28 2015 :
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has exuded confidence of snatching a comprehensive victory in the coming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections scheduled to be held on June 1.The party has however said that the current visit of Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy CM Gaikhangam to New Delhi is not related to party ticket distribution for the ADC elections.
MPCC General Secretary (Admin) S Jiten further said that State leaders have to consult with AICC regarding allotment of tickets to the candidates for the General Elections but for the ADC elections, MPCC alone can make decision for allotment of tickets to intending candidates.
Congress will field candidates for all the 144 ADC seats and 215 persons so far have submitted their applications seeking party tickets.
The MPCC General Secretary also revealed that the Ticket Committee of the party will hold a meeting soon and will finalise the list of candidates.
On some Congress ADC members leaving the party to BJP, Jiten said that this move will not affect the party.
Naga People's Front (NPF) Manipur state unit is also planning to field candidates for the ADC elections.
So far, the party has no plans to forge alliance with any party for the ensuing polls, said State NPF general secretary Athon Abonmei.
