Imphal, April 28 2015 :
As members of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO continued their cease work strike for the second day today, all Government activities have been brought to a grinding halt.
Employees of all Government departments including the Secretariat have been taking mass casual leave because of which all Government activities have been paralysed.
Even though officers came to their offices, they could not carry on any official work as all their subordinate staff have taken mass casual leave.
JAC general secretary L Purujit said that the cease work strike is more effective today as compared to yesterday.
All Government offices have been totally deserted, he claimed.
The employees would continue their agitation until their demands are fulfilled and their future course of agitation would be decided after holding a joint meeting.
Saying that the JAC has been watching the Government's response closely, Purujit said that the 6th Pay being given to the employees is only the outer shell bereft of all its ingredients.
It is not yet clear when the Government will respond to the demands of the JAC.
