Toppers of MIS felicitated

The prize distribution ceremony forposition holders of Millennium Institute of Sciences (MIS) in the Class XII examination was organised at the school campus at Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi today.
Education Minister Th Radheshyam, Parliamentary Secretary (Education, Youth Affairs and Sports) K Robindro Singh, Parliamentary Secretary H Dingo, Sapam Leirak Gram Panchayat pradhan Athokpam Bishoijit and MIS Principal Dr S Chauba took part in the event as the chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the event, Th Radheshyam said that students should aim for high marks as well as learn discipline in order to become a successful person in life and conveyed that just getting high marks does not equal an educated mind.
"Life is often the best school for an individual and experience is the best teacher.
Experience cannot be taught by teachers nor learned from books", he added.
Pointing out that every person is different from one another, he stressed the importance of identifying a student's talents and stated that parents and teachers should try and motivate the students to polish these talents instead of discouraging them.
COHSEM Secretary Dr M Bidyasagar said the number of successful students in the National competitive examinations for admission to higher technical education needs to be increased.
He also stressed the need for improving the teaching methodology practised in the State.
Students need to be taught how to apply what they learned from education, in their lives, he added.
Parliamentary Secretary, K Robindro Singh said that education is the backbone of the society and one should understand that education is one of the means to make the world a better place to live in.
Aside from the HSE 2017 toppers, the teachers of the school who produced the most subject toppers were also awarded prizes as a
part of the event.
