Outer MP Thangso Baite and Inner MP Dr T Meinya who are representing the State in the 16th Lok Sabha have been taking part in sittings of the House consistently with their attendance recorded at 92 percent.
On the other hand, attendance of the lone Rajya Sabha MP of the State, (L) Haji Abdul Salam was recorded at 82 percent.
According to records of the Parliament, Thangso Baite (64) who was elected from Outer
Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on INC ticket is serving for the second term in the Lower House.
The MP's educational qualification is MA.
He has participated in seven debates and raised six questions in the second term of the 16th Lok Sabha that commenced from May 18, 2014 .
However, he was absent during the presentation of Private Member Bill. Thangso Baite who is one of the Members of Standing Committee, Health and Family Welfare raised the issue of the two National Highways of the State on March 28 last in the House.
Along with pleading the House to grant a special financial package for Autonomous District Council under Rule Number 377, the MP on August 11, 2014 drew the attention of the House on the need for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State to protect its indigenous people.
On the other hand, Dr T Meinya (71) who was elected from Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on INC ticket took part in 52 debates during which he raised 117 questions.
The MP also tabled four Private Member Bills.
He had pressed the House for giving financial assistance to Asian Games gold medallist Ngangom Dingko. On April 11 last, the MP had sought a clarification from the Central Government on the contentious Framework Agree- ment signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India.
The MP also urged the Central Government to repair the National Highways of the State, include Manipuri language on Indian currency notes as per the 8th Schedule and to imple- ment Inner Line Permit System in the State.
Educational qualification of the MP is MSc, LLB, MPhil, Phd.
He is one of the Members of Standing Committee, Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Haji Abdul Salam who expired on February 28 due to an illness had taken part in two debates in the Upper House.
