Four deaths take fatality toll past 19K

Imphal, October 19 2021:
The cumulative fatality toll in the state reached 1901 on Tuesday after the Covid-19 pandemic claimed four more lives in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the daily test positivity rate remains below 5 per cent for the last six days with Tuesday reporting 95 new positive cases out of 2488 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 3.82 per cent against Monday's 4.60 per cent.
Out of the 16 districts, 11 reported Covid cases on Tuesday with Imphal West recording highest count at 42.In terms of positivity rate, Kamjong district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 8.8 per cent after 3 new cases were confirmed out of 34 samples tested while Churachandpur district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.7 per cent.
Jiribam, Kangpok-pi, Pherzawl, Senapati and Tamenglong districts did not report any new positive cases on Tuesday.
The active caseload came down to 1358 on Tuesday out of which 175 (12.89 per cent) are in home isolation, 524 (38.59 per cent) in CHICs, 367 (27.03 per cent) in CCCs and 292 (21.50 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 78 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 56 are on oxygen support and 21 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS though it has 135 patients.
On the other hand, there are four patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Tuesday evening, 597 beds including 100 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability in other facilities but as of Monday evening, 2814 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 419 beds (28 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 93,499 positive cases and 1527 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2315 new cases and 46 fatalities out of which 671 new cases and 14 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 95 new positive cases included 89 civilians (51 male & 38 female) and 6 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (12), JNIMS (28) and other testing centres (55) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (19), Imphal West (40), Thoubal (6), Bishnupur (13), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (4), Chandel (4), Churachandpur (1) and Noney (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The four fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal East (2), Thoubal (1) and Kangpokpi (1) and none of them were vaccinated against Covid-19 .
In the last 24 hours, 116 patients were discharged from home isolation (23), RIMS (4), JNIMS (19) and CCCs (70) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,22,899 (general population - 1,18,580 and CAPF personnel - 4,319).Number of recovered cases is 1,19,640 (general population - 115,353 and CAPF personnel - 4,287) and number of active cases is 1,358 (general population - 1,331 and CAPF personnel - 27) .
The recovery rate is 97.35 per cent.
On Monday, 1004 D-type and 117 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
On the same day, 12,829 vaccine doses were administered which took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 12,37,529 including 6,04,336 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,714), Imphal East (27,172), Thoubal (9422), Churachandpur (10,108), Kangpokpi (2773), Tamenglong (3272), Bishnupur (9115), Senapati (2219), Ukhrul (2887), Kakching (6376), Chandel (2314), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1053), Jiribam (1021), Kamjong (912)and Pherzawi (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (633), Imphal East (449), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (60), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (189), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (ill), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal(13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,607 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,404 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,33,626 tests per million population against the national average of 4,23,572 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2488 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.82 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.13 per cent.
