Imphal, December 16 2014:
The All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers' and Pullers' Welfare Association has drawn the attention of the authority to take action on the nurses who were on duty in the night of December 15 .
The Association alleged that its ailing President, Th Basanta was left unattended inside a ward at JNIMS Hospital on that night.
In a press release issued today, the Association said that he was hospitalized on December 14 for a case of stomach ache.
Later he was provided a bed in the Male Surgery Ward of the Hospital.
However, the patient left the hospital as the nurses were busy attending their personal phone calls instead of catering to his medical care in that complicated situation.
While the patient approached the OPD section of the Hospital for issuance of a prescription for his further treatment today, the authorities rejected his request informing him to disclose the Laboratory Test Result of the patient left behind at the ward.
In this regard, the Association condemned the act over its President, while demanding action against the nurses for failing attend to patients.
The Association warned that it will launch a series of strikes with support from people and leaders of various social organizations and public activist.
