Chandel District Cultural Exchange Program Held

The 4th one-day cultural exchange program of Chandel District was held at Community Hall of Aimol Khullen Village in Chandel District today with Ningthoujam Geoffrey, Deputy Commissioner of the district as the Chief Guest.
The program organized by Indigenous Minority Organization, Manipur (IMOM) in collaboration with the Aimol Khullen Village Authority was also graced by W.S.Karnal, President of Chandel Naga Peoples Organization (CNPO) and Khupler Kom, President of Indigenous Minority Organization, Manipur (IMOM) as the Special Guest and Functional President respectively.
The Cultural troupes of Aimol, Anal, Lamkang, Moyon, Mobsang, Chothe, Tarao, Kom, Thadou, Maring and Tangkhul tribes performed and exhibited their respective colorful cultural dances during the program.
While expressing gratitude to the organisers for giving a platform to showcase distinct culture of different communities of the District, Ningthoujam Geoffrey, DC Chandel said Chandel District is very unique as different communities having different customs and culture settle together.
He further said that customs and culture plays a vital role in indentifying one Community or a tribe.
And if a person whether he is holding a high post or be a Minister, if he does not know his own customs and cultural, his value in the society was unknown.
But a person who knows and practiced his customs and cultures were highly regarded in the society, So, it is important to preserve and promote one's own customs and cultures, said the Deputy Commissioner.
The program was also attended by Angkhong Saka, General Secretary of Maring Uparup Assembly, Moses Maring, Vice- President of Maring Uparup Assembly, Ch.
Sote Aimol, Secretary of Aimol Tribe Union Manipur and other tribe as well as civil organizations leaders besides Villages Chiefs and religious leaders of the District.
