Imphal, May 09 2013:
While asserting that the 'madness of percentage cut of the present government has also en-routed into the education sector', Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has called upon the state Project Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) to immediately stop the move of distributing school uniforms made by a Bangalore based private firm to the students of Manipur under SSA with an eye on making profit.
Recommending the Bangalore based private firm, Benaka Clothing Pvt.
Ltd for supplying school uniforms to be distributed among the students of Manipur under SSA, and then deferring issuance of school uniform till mid academic session is illogical.
Such a move to make profit at the expense of the students and people of Manipur should be stopped at once, DESAM demanded in a statement signed by its Assistant Secretary P Premchand.
DESAM maintained that it is because of such self-centered motive of gaining personal profit even in distribution of school uniforms that the students are facing a wide-range of problems.
A situation has arrived in Manipur today, where all the rank and file employees as well as ministers, directors, commissioners of government indulged in corruption and prosper from illegal money.
