Drug seizure case Moreh commando OC remanded

In connection with the seizure of illegal drugs worth Rs 3.5 crores from a team of commandos posted at Moreh by Thoubal commandos at Pallel on April 28, Manipur Police Commando OC RK Binodjit who was arrested yesterday was produced before the Court of CJM Thoubal today which remanded him to police custody for seven days.
Public Prosecutor S Meipak who appeared at the Court today said that RK Binodjit was involved in the case pertaining to seizure of drugs from 11 commando personnel on April 28 .
RK Binodjit, during preliminary interrogation revealed names of two persons associated in the drug deal.
The Public Prosecutor submitted before the Court to remand RK Binodjit to police custody till May 17 so that the two more associates can be pulled up and more details can be elicited from the arrested OC.
The counsel appearing on behalf of RK Binodjit contended that the remand period of seven days was too long.
The counsel pleaded to shorten the remand to four days.
After hearing both sides, the CJM remanded RK Binodjit to police custody till May 15 .
The Court further directed the concerned police authority to produce RK Binodjit at the ND&PS Special Court at Lamphelpat on May 15 itself.
